At the End of Summer

This week Kati and her team prepared the last batch of lecsó for this season. The whole garden team has been working hard to process pesto and lecsó, so that we have a good supply in stock for the autumn, winter and early spring.. We use the 3 week break from the boxes over the summer to concentrate on processing as well as getting beds ready and sown for the autumn/early winter. I like to call this end of summer period the "little Spring", as we do lots of bed preparation and sowing crops in propagation trays and direct into soil - like we do at the beginning of the season. Balancing the tasks of the year is one of the more creative (and sometimes challenging) aspects of market gardening. The satisfaction comes from working with a living system.
