Végre a helyükön vannak! A jövő szezon fokhagymáit most ültettük ki szabadfölbe. Fokhagymát ősszel is, tavasszal is lehet ültetni - mi jobban szeretjük ősszel bevetni, mert így jobban tudjuk kezelni a gyomokat, és az ágyások tisztán tartásával szép, egészséges, nagy fokhagymafejekké cseperednek. Nagyon igyekeztünk, hogy még az esőzések előtt bevessük a talajt, mivel ha esőzések után állnánk neki, akkor nagyon sokáig tart, míg kiszárad annyira, hogy tudjunk rajta dolgozni. Ebben az időszakban meg könnyű elveszíteni az értékes vetési időt a bizonytalan időjárás miatt. Épp elvetettük az utolsó fokhagyma-gerezdeket, ahogy elkezdett esni az eső. Jó érzés tudni, hogy épp időben végeztünk!
They are in the ground! Next years crop of garlic has already been put in the soil. Garlic can be planted in autumn or spring - we prefer autumn sowing, as we find we are able to keep on top of the weeds best, and through keeping the crop clean there is the best chance for them to develop into healthy, large bulbs. We were pushing to get the garlic in the ground before the rains this week, as on our heavy soil, once it is wet, it takes some time to dry out, and at this time of year this can mean missing the critical planting date. We pushed the last cloves of garlic into the soil as the first drops or rain were hitting the soil. This is always a good feeling - to know that we were just in time.
