Slow Transformation

When the sun is out in the middle of the day it still feels like the middle of summer, but the mornings and evenings become more bearable - not just for our gardening team, but also for the crops and plants in the garden (and the animals and soil). The next few weeks are the most important for determining how successful our autumn crops are. We are doing plenty of new sowings and plantings. Happily, we seem to be having some success with the germination of quite a few recently sown crops. This week the emphasis is on hoeing, hand weeding and watering, to make sure what we have already sown or planted has a good chance of making it through to the eating stage.
